The curriculum at Kings High School is designed to provide students with skills and knowledge relevant to the twenty-first century.
Great store is put on the development of independent learning where students take responsibility for their progress.
At Key Stage 3 students follow a common curriculum differentiated for ability.
At Key Stage 4 a degree of choice exists allowing students to focus on a curriculum area while retaining a balance of subjects to ensure that future career paths are not closed too early. Great care is taken to guide students to appropriate routes with parental consultation.
All students study core subjects of mathematics, english, science (double or single), ICT, PE, PSE and a double award vocational GCSE.
An option matrix then allows students to select from a combination of technology, languages, humanities and expressive arts.
For some students a work related curriculum is more appropriate and this is often combined with a college placement for part of the week.
