At Kirklevington Primary School our aim is to provide opportunities for children to achieve the best they can. We are a small village school, in beautiful surroundings with an emphasis on nurturing and caring for the individual child. The strong values of the school are represented by its emblem: a shield bearing an owl, a dove and a pony.

The school is located within the heart of Kirklevington village. It stands on the site of the old manor house on a ridge overlooking the Hambleton Hills. The village itself lies two miles south-east of Yarm just off the A67 and half a mile from the A19.

The School amenities include a Foundation Stage area and three spacious teaching bases for Early Years, Middle School and Upper School. There are quiet areas, art areas and a computer network. The School reference library and Oriental Garden lie in the middle of the School and are used by all children. There is also a large hall, which is used for PE/assembly/lunch and social events. Whenever weather permits, the children enjoy the use of two hard playgrounds as well as a large playing field with a rural outlook.

School`s Mission Statement

At our school we aim to maintain a secure, caring and stimulating community in which children are encouraged to have respect for themselves and each other. We offer quality teaching and learning, through which children are given the opportunity to develop individuality, responsibility, awe and wonder, and are challenged to achieve their full potential.

Parental involvement and support in school is encouraged. Parents are the first educators and know their children best. We seek to establish a friendly and co-operative relationship, recognising the joint responsibility between school and parents/guardians for the education of the children. We respect their right to enquire concerning the educational development of their child.

Similarly a friendly and co-operative relationship with governors is established as they also have joint responsibility for the conduct of the school.

We value the support of the Parents’ Association and the community at large and seek to involve and inform them wherever possible.

We also have well-established links with the local secondary school, which helps prepare the children for their entry into Secondary school life.

Admissions

Kirklevington is a co-educational Primary School for children aged 3 to 11 years, with an integral Nursery operating as part of the Foundation Stage Unit. This caters for children aged from 3 to 5 years. Children may be admitted to the Nursery as soon after their third birthday as there is a place available.

They will then transfer to Reception at the beginning of the Autumn Term (children born between September 1st and February 28/29th) or the beginning of the Spring Term (children born between March 1st and August 31st).
