PTA Newsletter - January 2007
I recently took over as Chairman of the PTA at Lane End and would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and share my ideas of what the PTA is all about.
For those who, as yet, have no involvement with the PTA, we are a body made up of both parents and teachers to organise events and raise money that can be used to benefit our school and children. We meet at the school on the second Monday of each half term to plan events, discuss issues and agree to funding for requests made by the school.
Recently we have agreed funding for:
· £250 for new Christmas decorations
· £1000 towards theme week including bringing in theatre companies to work with the pupils
· £500 towards new Golden Time and wet play equipment
· £500 for improving the school environment
· £500 to enable the Pupil Forum to implement ideas
All of this has been possible because of the support from all the parents in organising and coming to these events.
One area that I would like focus on in the coming months is raising awareness of the PTA. You are all members of this group and all are welcome to come to the meetings and see what we do. We are looking for ideas on what events you would like to see us organise and are happy to discuss anything that you like.
Following a suggestion from some parents, I am organising a social PTA evening down at the John Millington (5th April from 7.30pm). Please come along for a drink, meet us and give us your ideas on what you would like to see us do to make our school even better for our children.
Our next event is a race night, planned for the 2nd February. This promises to be a very entertaining evening for parents and an opportunity to meet other parents at the school whilst supporting a very good cause. Please book your tickets by Wednesday 31st January.

Archie Moore (PTA Chairman) |
