Welcome to Lane End Primary School

ABOUT US

Lane End is a county primary (4-11 years) school. Prior to 1990 the school consisted of two buildings, one housing the infant department and the other the junior department. In 1990 an extension was added to the existing infant building and the whole school is now housed in modern accommodation, overlooking fields at the back of Bramhall Park.

THE AIMS OF THE SCHOOL
  • To create an environment in which all children can experience success and thereby build self-confidence.
  • To develop the all-round potential of the children through the vehicle of a wide and varied and balanced curriculum.
  • To help children to acquire intellectual skills and apply them.
  • To develop in children a positive attitude towards education as a continuing process.
  • To develop a stimulating environment which is organised , secure, structured and purposeful.
  • To promote a climate in which creativity can flourish.
  • To prepare children for the demands of a rapidly changing society.
  • To provide for children's physical development.
  • To recognise the importance of two-way communication with parents and school support agencies.
  • To develop in children an awareness and understanding of our own and other cultures, religions, races and ways of life.
  • To develop skills of communication in which the children are free to express themselves, encouraged to respect the views of others within their group, and ultimately society in general.
  • To equip the children for a changing society and to enable them to adapt and thus develop qualities of self-reliance and self-discipline.
  • To challenge every child to achieve at the highest level they possibly can.

PTA

PTA Newsletter - January 2007

I recently took over as Chairman of the PTA at Lane End and would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and share my ideas of what the PTA is all about.

For those who, as yet, have no involvement with the PTA, we are a body made up of both parents and teachers to organise events and raise money that can be used to benefit our school and children. We meet at the school on the second Monday of each half term to plan events, discuss issues and agree to funding for requests made by the school.

Recently we have agreed funding for:
·        £250 for new Christmas decorations
·        £1000 towards theme week including bringing in theatre companies to work with the pupils
·        £500 towards new Golden Time and wet play equipment
·        £500 for improving the school environment
·        £500 to enable the Pupil Forum to implement ideas

All of this has been possible because of the support from all the parents in organising and coming to these events.

One area that I would like focus on in the coming months is raising awareness of the PTA. You are all members of this group and all are welcome to come to the meetings and see what we do. We are looking for ideas on what events you would like to see us organise and are happy to discuss anything that you like.

Following a suggestion from some parents, I am organising a social PTA evening down at the John Millington (5th April from 7.30pm). Please come along for a drink, meet us and give us your ideas on what you would like to see us do to make our school even better for our children.

Our next event is a race night, planned for the 2nd February. This promises to be a very entertaining evening for parents and an opportunity to meet other parents at the school whilst supporting a very good cause. Please book your tickets by Wednesday 31st January.

Regards,
Archie Moore (PTA Chairman)

HELP YOUR CHILD!

This part of the website is where the school will offer you helpful tips in supporting your child's learning at home. These articles are the result of the work we are doing at school to develop active learning in your child's classroom and also as a follow up to our evening for parents entitled "Help Your Child to Succeed".

We will be offering you at least one article per month which refers to areas we are developing in school.

The first article is entitled the Safe Learning Environment - written by Peter Greenhalgh. This article offers you practical tips for creating the right conditions for learning at home.
