Our school is situated on School Lane, in the Village of Westhead, near Ormskirk, Lancashire. We have 3 classes for the 73 pupils aged from four to eleven years old. The staff are totally committed to giving the children the best possible start to their formal education. The caring atmosphere gives the children a feeling of security, self-worth and belonging in a place where every individual is encouraged to fulfil their potential and develop a love of learning and life itself. These words figure strongly in our school prayer. The school is bright and cheerful, warm and welcoming and buzzes with enthusiasm.

Our school provides a secure, caring, stimulating and challenging environment that promotes a love of learning. Our children, parents, families, staff, governors and community work together to enable each child to become a happy, healthy, well-balanced individual in preparation for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.

The ethos of the school is based on the Christian ideals of commitment, responsibility and respect and love for Jesus Christ, self and others. We are committed to working in partnership with all of those involved in our children’s development to lead our children towards tolerance, understanding, justice, and sensitivity to the needs of others.

The school is organised into three classes:

  • Class One - Reception/Year 1
  • Class Two - Year 2/Year 3/Year 4
  • Class Three - Year 4/Year 5/Year 6

We aim to provide a secure and happy environment, where all children are given full opportunity to develop the abilities they possess; to develop their skills and ideas as individuals and to help them to relate to others; to extend the children’s knowledge of themselves and the world around them.To this end the children are encouraged to think for themselves and use their own initiative.

There are opportunities for pupils to take part in extra curricular activities in football, uni-hoc, netball, athletics, rounders, cross-country and swimming. Teams play other schools in friendly matches and tournaments.
