Head Teacher and ICT Co-ordinator

Mrs A Campbell

The National Curriculum requires all children of statutory school age to be taught 'core' and 'foundation' subjects. English, Mathematics,Science, Religious Education, and ICT are deemed to be 'core' subjects. 'Foundation' subjects cover History, Geography, Music, Art, Physical Education and Design Technology. Information Communication Technology will be used to support all subjects.

Special Educational Needs (S.E.N.)

We believe all children have equal rights of access to an education which takes account of individual needs. If your child has a Special Educational Need, the school in consultation with you, will make arrangements to provide additional support. Wherever possible, this provision is made to be maintained within the class setting with additional support from either the class teacher, the Special Needs Co-ordinator or visiting Individual Pupil services teacher.

If we feel that your child requires extra support you will be informed of this immediately. However, if you feel that your child is having difficulties, your child's teacher should be the first point of contact.

The school has a comprehensive S.E.N. Policy which outlines the arrangements for providing an appropriate curriculum for children who have difficulties. We also have a governor who is responsible for S.E.N. who supports the school in this process, and any issues related to the 'Code of Practice' can be discussed with this Governor who can be contacted through the school office.

The More Able Pupil

Pupils working well above the average performance of their peer group will receive extension and enrichment tasks which will challenge and motivate them to apply their particular skill to problem-solving tasks. These opportunities will be built into all schemes of work and weekly planning.

The school has a Policy for More Able Children and you are welcome to borrow this at any time.
