Welcome to the Luton Junior School

Here are a few words from our Head Teacher, Ms Jillian Oliver.

"Welcome to the Luton Junior School website!

Luton Junior School is a friendly, caring community and has high expectations of all pupils academically and socially.

School Vision

Children with high self-esteem, who are confident and happy, who are committed to the school community and proud of it, possessing a sense of belonging. An inclusive school in which excellence and enjoyment flourish and with a creative approach to teaching and learning, children proud of their achievements and aspiring to produce their best. Children who have developed responsibilities for behaviour, attitudes and learning. Confident learners who can show initiative, are developing as independent learners and have the skills to work co-operatively. A school where all children are active good citizens."

Luton Junior School Ski Club is very successful after school activity which takes place September to April each year.

The club is open to all children in Year’s four to six.

Parents bring their children to the John Nike Ski Centre at Capstone Park 5:40 each Friday where they are met and supervised by Mrs Juniper. Parents are welcome to stay or if they prefer return to collect their child at 7:00 p.m. when the session ends.

There is a bar and coffee area available for adults to sit and watch their children.

Ski equipment is provided by the ski centre and instruction is given by qualified ski instructors. The children are taught according to their ability level and work towards badges.

Children need to wear suitable clothing e.g. long sleeved tops and long trousers, socks and gloves. The slope stipulate that if children are not suitably dressed they will not allow them on the slope.

The club has been running for a number of years and many children have experienced real success in this sport. Some continue to join the ski group even after they have left Luton. Parents also find this to be a social evening for them. If there are enough parents interested and adult group could be arranged.

For further information contact Mrs Carole Juniper at Luton School.

After School Parent & Child Games Club

This is an opportunity for parents and children to meet up with each other to enjoy games and craft activities together. Simple baking and other creative food activities are timetabled into each term. The club runs on Mondays from 3.15 pm to 4.15 pm and is held in the pavilion on the playground. Refreshments are provided including biscuits and fruit.

Family Learning Courses

These 5-week courses are run across the academic year for parents and children to have fun learning together. They are held at the school and a crèche can be arranged on site if required. Courses that have been successful so far are sign language, pottery, arts & crafts and cookery. These courses run after school between 3.30 pm and 5.00 pm.
