The most important part of Marwood School is learning. We consider carefully every aspect of school life over which we have some control. We plan and organise the teaching to provide children with skills they need to continue their education and equally importantly, the thinking that allows them to apply these skills both in school and to life in general.
The original school on this beautiful site was built at the end of the last century. Today we have four classes, a kitchen, a small hall and various play areas. A school field was acquired in July 2002, which is at the back of the school site and improvements made to classrooms in 2004. We have further plans to develop our hall in partnership with the local community.

| We believe that children learn by doing things, not by just being told about them. Activity, investigation and experimentation therefore are important parts of the learning process. We work hard to provide a broad, yet balanced curriculum, in which the emphasis is to:
- foster a fascination in the world around them and an eagerness to learn about it
- provide the knowledge and skills such as reading, writing, number and computation, which allow children to investigate, solve problems and further their learning
- develop rational thinking and an awareness of their own learning
- encourage a tolerant and caring attitude towards themselves and other
Children have a successful and enjoyable time with us. The school has a tradition of blending a friendly, family atmosphere with stimulating, thought provoking and challenging academic approaches. The overriding aim of the school is to create an atmosphere where individuals feel valued, endeavour is encouraged and fostered, and where the promotion of high morale is considered important and children become increasingly aware of and responsible for their own learning. In other words, we want to help your children be confident, thinking people, capable of independence and caring.

| At Marwood School we teach the National Curriculum comprising the core subjects of - Literacy, Mathematics, Science and ICT along with the foundation subjects - History, Geography, Design and Technology, Art, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education and Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education. For these subjects there are programmes of study to ensure continuity and progression.
Children also study conversational French and can take part in a variety of extra-curricular opportunities. Our teaching methods support a wide variety of learning styles and we encourage our children to become independent, confident and reflective learners.
