Maundene School

Maundene School aims to work with the community to:

bullet Provide a safe, caring and happy environment, which gives children the security and confidence to learn effectively.
bullet

Offer a good all round education which meets the needs of each individual child and motivates all children to learn.

bullet

Set high expectations for work and behaviour, so that all children are encouraged to realize their full potential.

bullet

Meet the spiritual, moral and social needs of all children, so that they develop and mature to become caring, responsible young people.

ABOUT US

Maundene School is a two-form entry primary school for children aged 4 to 11 years

The school, which opened in 1976, is set in pleasant, tree lined grounds close to local  amenities.  Its internal design is based on semi-open plan lines.  We have 14 class teaching  bases, an under 5s activity room, ICT suite, two halls and two Libraries.  Outside we have a large covered play area for the under 5s, as well as separate infant and junior playgrounds and fields.  Although the fall in birth rate has led to a drop in pupil numbers throughout the Walderslade area Maundene School maintains a generally constant pupil roll of about 420 pupils;  we are always over-subscribed!

UNIFORM

The school uniform is as follows:

Grey, black or navy trousers

Grey, black or navy tailored shorts

Grey, black or navy skirt

School polo shirt and or school sweatshirt or cardigan

Red / white or blue / white check / stripe summer dress

Grey or white socks, navy tights

Black footware

The uniform has been devised in response to numerous requests by parents.  It solves the problem of “What can I wear today?” and ensures that the children are always sensibly dressed.  It can also be a unifying factor, important in a school with children sometimes transferring from several different schools.  We believe it also helps towards creating a good ‘tone’.  Denim jeans, track/shell suits, fashionable dresses and high heeled boots or shoes are not regarded as suitable school wear.  The latter especially could prove positively dangerous in the school situation.  The Governors expect the co-operation of parents in ensuring that the policy on uniform is adhered to.
