About Mayfield Primary School
Mayfield School is a small village school with 141 children. Mayfield is an extremely attractive village of historic interest, set in a picturesque part of East Sussex.
The school serves the whole community of Mayfield. On the whole children live in the village, but some travel from further afield. We are proud of our school and our school aims emphasise a happy environment where everyone is encouraged to achieve their best.
The school is situated at the end of the High Street, and is an important part of the Community. The main part of the building is Edwardian and houses three classrooms and offices. In the summer of 1999 we moved into our new extension which provides us with a good size hall, two spacious classrooms and Community Library. This summer we have redesigned our office accommodation and created a large, flexible additional learning room. There is a good size playground with direct access to a large grassed area belonging to the village.
All children wear school uniform. Children are well behaved, well motivated and enjoy coming to school. The school population reflects a wide range of ability and pupils reach high standards of achievement by the time they lave us. Achievement is above national standards at both key stages.
