SPECIAL NEEDS

We are an inclusive school and welcome children and parent/carers regardless of background or disability. We teach children to respect each other, and have regard to their beliefs and experiences. The school has clear policies for identifying and supporting children with learning and behavioural difficulties. Children may be given additional help in groups or individually, both within and away from the class.

Three classrooms have wheelchair access and there are toilets for disabled children and adults. On completion of building work in August 2005, all rooms will be accessible to all, regardless of disability. A disabled parking space is adjacent to the school entrance, which is at ground level. Mrs Coleman, the Special Needs Co-ordinator, works with individuals and groups of children and provides advice and support for teachers and teaching assistants.

Liason with parents is an important part of this process. Progress is monitored carefully and tragets set for each child.

The Accessibility Plan is available to all parents from the school office.
