Welcome to Medina High School
It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Medina High School where our main aim is to create a culture of self-belief, high aspiration and high achievement for every student
Medina High School is a rapidly improving 13 – 18 High School where improvements are evident in many areas throughout the school and are not only restricted to ever improving examination results. Student voice through the innovative Fusion magazine will feature at the SSAT national conference in Birmingham in November and the Isle of Wight Music Festival which uses our sports fields provides students with a global platform to showpiece their work. The school buildings will include a new ten classroom Mathematics and ICT block equipped with world-class facilities opening in September 2007. A new Geography block was opened two years ago, and the complete refurbishment of our Science accommodation is just about to commence to provide 9 state of the art laboratories. We are at the forefront of green technology having featured in national press with zero carbon classroom and roofs covered with photovoltaic cells
Our curriculum is an innovative mix of academic and practical learning opportunities designed to meet the needs of all students. Courses range from the traditional core areas through to two days per week focussing on practical learning in carpentry and hair and holistic therapies through a mix of school and employer based opportunities. Students are supported through a rigorous academic monitoring and mentoring
We emphasise traditional standards of uniform, good manners, discipline and respect whilst providing a very modern education which will include all students and support their development to take their rightful place in the world of further education, work and society of the twenty first century.
