PRIMARY SCHOOL

Welcome to the MSA

The MSA is Middlefield School's Parent Teacher Association and every teacher, parent and guardian is automatically a member. The activities of the PTA are coordinated by a voluntary committee who meet at least once a term to arrange fun events for families and to raise funds for the school.

The 'Friends of the MSA' are a group of parents who don't wish to become committee members, but are more than happy to be called upon to help out before or during events.

AIMS

Aims

In this forward-looking, open environment, we aim to provide high quality education, which develops the full potential of the children in our care.

We believe it is important to celebrate individuals and their achievements in an atmosphere, which is lively, creative, enthusiastic and reflects the wider world.

We want Middlefield to be a secure, happy and supportive community where people relate to each other with confidence and respect.

  • We actively work to promote and nurture positive self-esteem in order to develop confident, responsible and independent children.
  • We promote pride in achievement and celebrate personal success in a wide range of endeavour both in school and outside.
  • We provide a broad, balanced, continuous and appropriate curriculum, which is taught through a variety of teaching methods and takes account of different learning styles.
  • We recognise that our school is part of the wider community. We will play our part in preparing children to take their place in a changing world, as reliable, independent and positive citizens.
  • We encourage creativity across the curriculum.
  • We foster mutual respect, appreciation and tolerance of all religions, cultures, beliefs and circumstances.
  • We provide a secure, happy and welcoming environment for everyone.

ADMISSION

Middlefield Community Primary School current catchment area is the area bounded by but not including Potton Road, Barford Road and Crowell Road.

The Local Authority (LA) is the admission authority for the School.  The Headteacher will advise parent’s of the LA’s policy and appeals procedure.

Children start School at the beginning of the academic year in which they are five, that is in the September of that year.  After a gradual start to help the children settle in, admission is full time.

How to apply

The application process for admissions into Reception (initial year of entry) is co-ordinated by Cambridgeshire LA, to offer places at the School.  Parents should submit a Common Application Form, available from the School or from the LA Admissions Team.

To apply for a place after the start of term or in any other year group, please contact the School.

Parents wishing to visit the School prior to submitting an application are welcome to do so.  Please arrange a suitable time with the Headteacher.

All parents are advised to read the LA booklet for parents on primary admissions.

How places are offered

For admission into Reception in 2008, the LA will offer places to 30 children.  This is the published Admission Number (PAN) for that year group.  In the event that more than 30 applications are received, the oversubscription criteria will be applied to determine priority for places. Both preferences are treated equally, regardless of whether they are first or second preferences.
