| ABOUT US
At Milborne Port Primary School, we have spent much time carefully considering our aims and values. These have been developed in consultation with pupils, parents and staff. These values underpin all that we do in school. The aims are at the heart of our work.
|
| - For every individual child to achieve their potential.
- To provide a broad and balanced curriculum to allow for attainment in academic, skills based and creative areas.
- For children to be proud of themselves and what they do.
- To foster in children the very highest standards of achievement, through our own high expectations.
- For children to be respectful of and understand the opinions of others.
- To develop in children individual and collective responsibility for actions.
- To help children to develop as responsible members of their local community.
- For children to have respect for and understand the environment in which they live.
- To embrace diversity of culture and learn about life in different cultures.
- To promote a healthy lifestyle.
- For children to be confident, creative users of new technologies.
- For children to enjoy physical and mental activity.

| The curriculum to which each child is entitled is laid down by
the National Curriculum, which provides a framework to ensure
the development of a child as it moves through the school. The
basic requirements under the National Curriculum include
Religious Education and the three “core” subjects: English,
Mathematics and Science. There are seven “Foundation”
subjects: Information & Technology, Design & Technology,
History, Art & Design, Geography, Music and Physical Education.
In addition to the subjects specified in the National Curriculum,
the school curriculum also addresses cross-curricular issues such
as Personal and Social Education, Health, Citizenship, Equal
Opportunities, French and Religious Education. The manner in
which the curriculum as a whole is delivered will reflect the
needs of each individual child and so the organisation of
teaching groups will, of necessity, be flexible. Comprehensive
policy statements and schemes of work linked to the subjects
mentioned above exist and may be viewed at the school. |
| The school prides itself on the range of activities it can offer.
These vary from term to term but include Choir, Running,
Recorder, Gymnastics, Chess, Football, Netball, Cricket, Dance,
Short Tennis, Karate, Tag Rugby and Art.
These run on a voluntary basis and whilst every effort is made
to ensure the regularity of the activities, occasionally they can be
subject to change. When this happens parents are notified in
advance.
Some clubs are run by outside agencies and a charge is levied.
Currently Short Tennis, Karate and Football are offered on this
basis. |
