Motcombe Primary School
Motcombe C.E V.A  Primary School is located in the village of Motcombe which is just 2 miles North of the  Anglo Saxon hilltop town of  Shaftesbury on the edge of the Blackmore Vale in the county of North Dorset. The school is part of  a thriving cluster group which consists of Motcombe C.E V.A Primary School, Abbey C.E V.A Primary School Shaftesbury and St Andrew's Primary School (Fontmell Magna).

These schools work very closely to provide:

  • an enhanced curriculum for the children.
  • shared expertise between the staff.
  • opportunities for peer groups to work in large numbers.
  • professional support for staff.

It is an expectation that all children at this school will, at some stage, work in other schools within the group and be taught from any of these schools, sharing the curriculum with their peer group. The Cluster Group receives funding from the County for Cluster Group co-operation and some costs for co-operative activities are met from this fund.

 Mission Statement

 “High standards through high expectations

We welcome all children to Motcombe CE V.A Primary School and aim to ensure that they enjoy their time here and develop an enthusiasm for lifelong learning.  As a church school, we seek to create a warm and friendly atmosphere in which all children can feel secure and valued, within a caring Christian environment.

 We are committed to:

  • Providing high quality teaching and learning, through a broad and balanced curriculum which encompasses academic, creative, physical, social and spiritual qualities.

  • Continuous improvement of every aspect of the school’s work and life,

  • Fostering self-esteem, where individual efforts are valued and celebrated working in partnership with children, parents, carers, staff and governors, alongside the wider community.

We encourage children to:

  • Develop an enquiring mind and a desire for knowledge.

  • Persevere, responding positively to challenges.

  • Work towards achievable goals and targets.

  • Show respect for themselves, others and their environment .

  • Take responsibility for their own actions.
