Gardening Club (Key Stage 1)
The children were asked if taking part in Gardening Club has inspired them to do more gardening, to which most replied a definite yes because it is fun and is is nice to try new things. some of the children liked getting messy! It is very clear from watching the children how much they enjoy the club. The children all like to do different activities while working around the school. A lot of children enjoyed planting all sorts of different plants, especially in the alpine garden and filling the troughs with bedding plants. Favourite flowers of the children at Mugginton include bluebells, sweet pea and sunflowers, will any of these soon be blossoming at school?
It is obvious that the children enjoyed painting the wall with a variety of different flower designs and when asked many of the children proudly showed off their contribution to the wall painting!
Mrs Forrest hopes that the gardening club will encourage the children to take pride in the school environment and she thought it was an interesting activity for the children to do. Mrs Birks was asked why she enjoys helping the children in the gardening club, that was a very easy question for her to answer - because she enjoys interacting with the children. She was then asked if the club has made the children like gardening more? Mrs Birks thought that yes the children will be encouraged to do more gardening.
Not all work is done outside. The children were allowed to show their creative side by drawing sunflowers! Here are a few of the work of arts produced by the children taking part in the gardening club.
