Welcome

Welcome to our new web site! We hope that it will be informative and keep you up to date with events in school. I would like to say a great big thank you to Mr Eddie Brown who created the site in his spare time.

We have aimed to include information pages that you might find useful e.g. the Schools Prospectus and Information Booklet, Menus and Calendar for school term dates.  If you would like to see what your children are studying this year please look at  Curriculum, or if you want to find out about  Springers look in After School.

Mr Brown has included an Alerts page so that I can let you know for example, that the Year 6 children have arrived safely at Osmington  or may be late returning home.

The site includes our last three newsletters and eventually we would like to ask the parents who access their computers regularly if they could save us a lot of paper - and save them hours searching in their children’s bags -to go completely electronic. We will of course be happy to send out paper copies to those of you who prefer it. A number of parents have already placed their name on our mailing list. If you would like to add yours please follow the instructions by going to the Information link, then to e-mails.

AFTER SCHOOL

Newlands Spring Primary School provides an after school club for children from Newlands Spring Primary School.

Children are picked up from the school by the  club staff and taken to the safe environment of the Club House (formally the Caretakers House).

The children have a snack and a drink and can then take part in the many activities on offer until their parents come to pick them up.

The Club is open to all children who attend Newlands Spring Primary School.  Charges are as follows:

3.15pm to 4.30pm       £3 per night

3.15pm to 6.00pm     £6 per night

Charges are reduced for children attending the whole week, who will get 5 nights for the price of 4.  Fees must be paid by the end of the week attended.

The  Play Club Leader  and the assistant play worker aim  to provide a quality childcare service to working parents, where the children can be safe and happy in a fun environment.

If you would like your child to attend the After School Club, at any time, please ask for a  Registration Form at Reception and return it to the school secretary (Tel. 01245 442031) as soon as possible.

PRE-SCHOOL

The Newlands Spring Pre-School was first established in 1982 and in September 2005 moved to a new building, within the Newlands Spring Primary School grounds, affectionately known as the “Blue School”. Our new blue building is light, spacious and secure with ample play and seating areas, book and home corners and plenty of space to display the children’s work, purpose built toilets and washbasins, and access to hard and grassed outside play areas.

We offer education and care for children from 2½ to 5 years. The younger children attend afternoon sessions and move to more structured morning sessions as they get older, usually around their third birthday. This ensures that children of similar ages are grouped together and offered the appropriate activities.

We are proud of our dedicated and caring staff and our staff/child ratios are in accordance with the requirements of OFSTED Early Years. We are able to offer a ratio of 1 member of staff for every 4 children in our afternoon sessions (OFSTED recommends 1:4) and 1:5 in our older, morning sessions, which is in fact better than OFSTED’s recommendation is 1:8.  We are, therefore, very pleased to be able to offer this exceptional level of attention to each child.

The Pre-school is regularly inspected by OFSTED with its most recent inspection having been carried out in May 2006.  Copies of the OFSTED reports are available from the Department of Education website www.ofsted.gov.uk.

The Pre-school has strengthened its links with Newlands Spring Primary School since moving to the “Blue School” and we are very fortunate to share their site with them.  As a result of this strong relationship, Newlands Spring Primary School have amended their Admission policy to include children who attend the Pre-school within the criteria for over-subscription as of the school year 2007-2008.

We currently have spaces available at the Pre-school so if you would like further information, details of our full Prospectus as well as session times and fees please contact either Jackie or Wendy on 01245 442505.

We look forward to hearing from you.
