"Children live what they learn.........."
and, in our school, we believe that learning is for life. While the learning opportunities children are offered conform to the requirements of the National Curriculum, they go well beyond those basic programmes of study. Skilled and dedicated staff committed to high quality teaching aim to give children a lifelong love of learning as well as equipping them with the skills and knowledge to function effectively in the 21st century.
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Looking forward
A school does not stand still. It is a living and growing community of pupils, parents and staff. Each year, as we bid farewell to all those children moving on to Secondary Schools, we welcome around 50 new pupils just embarking on their educational journey.
From time to time, it is necessary to stop, to take stock and to reflect on our aims, our values and the direction we want our school to go. We need to take time to achieve the clarity to know what is really important for our school.
Over the past few months, the staff and Governors have been doing just that. From their meetings, both separately and together, they have arrived at a set of "core principles" which will underpin all their planning in the years to come. These they have incorporated into a Vision for Oakwood. We hope you will share our Vision and see it reflected in all that is planned and provided for your child in the years to come.
