Welcome to Offord Primary School

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Offord Lunchtime Games

At Offord Primary School, we continue to look carefully at lunchtimes to ensure all children have lots to do and have a happy time. Two of our teaching assistants attended a course on promoting positive behaviour through games and then returned to School to implement it.

These games are now part of lunchtimes. A lunchtime supervisor organises a different game for each day.

As well as the games, children have access to small games equipment to use themselves with friends. We also have lunchtime French and recorder clubs. There is a timetable set up for use of the adventure playground, trim trail and sensory garden. We have a comic and magazine stand for those who prefer a quiet few moments.

On the "Archive" page are some playground games, researched and compiled by our staff. Most of the games were played when we adults were young with slight alterations to the wording. They were chosen because they need little or no equipment. Please look through and see if there are any you played, or any that you would like to teach your child.

EDUCATION

We are proud of the approach taken at Offord and the results this achieves. The classes at Offord are described below and you can follow the link for a description of the curriculum.

Classes

We currently have four classes at Offord Primary School. They are :

Year Class Name Teacher Topic Letter(s) updated May 2007
Reception & Year 1 class Wrens Miss Wainright Reception or Year 1
Year 1 & Year 2 class Robins Miss Hartland Robins
Year 3/4 class Hawks Mrs Taylor Hawks
Year 5/6 class Kingfishers Miss Gray Kingfishers

The children are taught in ability groups in their class regardless of their age. This is of particular benefit in the subject areas of Literacy and Numeracy. In subject areas such as Art and Physical Education, the children are taught in a whole class, mixed group. We have a flexible teaching approach which is used to ensure that we achieve the best from each individual.
