Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School
New London Road, CM2 0RG, UK Chelmsford
+44 (0)1245 353755
www:http://www.ourladyimmaculate.essex.sch.uk/e-mail:

In October 1845, Fr. Charles King opened the Immaculate Conception school-chapel. The parish
church was built two years later. The school has since served generations of families from
Chelmsford and beyond.

Today, Our Lady Immaculate School is situated on a much-extended site and is part of a vibrant parish.

The school aims to provide an excellent and distinctive Catholic education to prepare pupils to meet
the demands of the 21st Century. Our Lady Immaculate is now a Voluntary Aided, Roman Catholic Primary School, within the Diocese of Brentwood.

Arrangements to visit the school may be made, by prior appointment with the Headteacher, who will be pleased to see parents, show them around the school and provide further information.

Mission Statement

"The school aims to show, through the co-operation and joint commitment between all staff, Governors,
children and parents, that Christ is central to the life of Our Lady Immaculate Roman Catholic Primary School.

By following and building upon this statement, we hope that each child will leave feeling they have fulfilled their potential within our school, been a positive member of a caring community and progressed along their journey
of faith."

CURRICULUM

The school aims to ensure that the whole curriculum for each child is coordinated and coherent so that effective learning can take place. The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum through all the subjects of the National Curriculum and develops the work of individual children according to their age, aptitude and ability.

The children are grouped in classes according to age:

INFANTS JUNIORS
Foundation Stage Key Stage 2
Reception Year 3
Key Stage One Year 4
Year 1 Year 5
Year 2 Year 6

The teacher of each class is responsible for the children's work, although children may, at times, be working
with other teachers and in other parts of the school.

The Foundation Stage curriculum is organized into 6 areas of learning. Early Learning Goals establish expectations for most children to reach by the end of the Foundation Stage. Foundation Stage continues to the end of Reception.

The National Curriculum specifies programmes of study and attainment targets for children at different stages
of their schooling. Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum is completed by the end of Year 2 and Key Stage 2
by the end of Year 6. The curriculum is taught in the context of our identity as a Catholic school.

Extra Curricular Activities

Such activities take place during the lunch hour or after school. Children are able to take advantage of activities
in Art, Computers, Music, Netball, Football, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Chess and Gymnastics.

Gymnastics is the most popular activity and there is usually a waiting list to join. The school competes at
both local and national level.

Where necessary, parents are asked to contribute to the cost of these activities.
