WELCOME
Our Lady of the Rosary School was built in 1955 and provides a Catholic education for children from 4 to 11 years of age. It is situated in the north-west of the city of Bristol and primarily serves the local parish community and children from the neighbouring parish of St. Anthony's in Henbury. There is room for children from further afield and we currently have Catholic children from, amongst other areas, Avonmouth, Sea Mills, Severn Beach, Shirehampton and Westbury on Trym.
The school is a Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School, under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Clifton. We are immediately adjacent to the parish church of the same name. The parish priest is a frequent visitor, and the children attend Mass in the church. We enjoy spacious and attractive surroundings, having separate Infant and Junior playgrounds and tree-lined playing fields large enough to accommodate two football pitches, an adventure playground and a fitness trail.
At present there are over 200 children on roll, divided by age into 7 classes; a Foundation Class, 2 Key Stage 1 Classes and 4 Key Stage 2 Classes. We also have a library and an Information Communication Technology room. There is a large well-equipped hall, and also a separate dining room.
Children start full-time in the Foundation Class in the September before their fifth birthday, and Catholic children transfer at the age of 11 to St. Bede's, which is the Catholic Comprehensive School for the area, and is only a few minutes away. Sixth-form Catholic education is provided at St. Brendan's College in Brislington.
School uniform is worn, and the highest standards of behaviour and work are expected from all our children at all times. We believe that this can only be achieved if the relationships are right between the home and school, between staff and children and all those who have influence upon our children.
In July 2006 we had our third Ofsted Inspection and were judged to be an 'Outstanding' school. We have regularly been invited to become a ‘Beacon’ school but are concerned that, whilst being of assistance to other schools, this could be detrimental to the children in our care.

The school is justifiably proud of the fact that, for the third consecutive year, we have been awarded the National School Achievement Award.
