Outwood Primary School is situated in Heald Green which is part of Stockport Education Authority. All our parents have high aspirations for their children and we aim to meet them . We have good standards of behaviour and all the children follow our 'Golden Rules', which leads to a calm and well disciplined environment where the children can flourish to make the best of their primary education. Our school forms an important part of the Heald Green community. We have close ties with St.Catherines church and the Outwood Fellowship meets in our hall every Sunday morning.

Our parents choose Outwood Primary School because their children:

  • Are happy and fulfilled and enjoy coming to school.
  • Receive a high quality education, which is based on traditional values.
  • Work in a safe and caring environment where adults build good relationships with the children.
  • Benefit from a stimulating and wide ranging curriculum
  • Develop pride in their own achievement and progress
  • Understand the need for self discipline and respect for others
  • Are encouraged to develop individual talents and interests so that they become well-rounded individuals.

School Admissions Policy

Admission to schools in Stockport is based on the child's principal parental home and a Priority Area system. The priority area in which you live will determine which is your priority Community school. If you would like to know whether you are in our priority area please contact us. If you live within our Priority area you will be guaranteed a place at our school as long as you apply by the closing date and reply to the offer of the school place by the given date. Please contact us for advice on closing dates etc. If you do not apply by the closing date or do not respond to the offer of a place by the given date the place may be offered to someone else and you may lose your place. If you do not live in our Priority area you may still apply for your child to attend our school by filling in an application form in the same way as for Priority area children. If we have any remaining places when places have been allocated to Priority area children, remaining places will be offered first to children with siblings in the school and then to other children beginning with those who live nearest the school. This year we have 30 places for Reception age children in September. If you are not successful in being allocated a place at our school you have the right to appeal against the Authorities decision to an Independent Appeal Panel.

School Uniform

All the children are expected to wear the school uniform. It consists of: white shirt and school tie or white polo shirt, royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan and grey skirt or trousers and black shoes (no trainers). In the summer the girls may wear blue school summer dresses.

Outwood Nursery

We have a 40 place nursery - 20 in the morning session and 20 in the afternoon session. The children benefit from a large self-contained outdoor play area which includes roadways, woodland pathways, a play house , a sand pit and seatingareas. We also have raised flower beds which are used as a teaching and learning environment, where children plant bulbs, seeds and plants and care for them.
