| Welcome to Paignton Community & Sports College
Paignton Community & Sports College has been a designated specialist SPORTS COLLEGE since September 2002. Through achieving Specialist School Status we have received extra funding which is helping to improve provision for sport both in the College and in the local community.
The College has over 1926 pupils on roll, including 285 Sixth Form
students, the vast majority coming from the immediate Paignton
area. The College welcomed its first Comprehensive intake into
Year 7 in 1992 and first Sixth Form students in September 1995.
|
| At Paignton Community & Sports College we aim to:
- enable all members of the College to achieve their full potential by encouraging the highest possible standard of endeavour
- develop personal qualities and social skills in order that members of the College may respect both the needs of the individual and those of the whole community
- work with local primary schools, secondary schools and clubs within the community
- ensure that sport in Torbay matches what is offered anywhere in the country

| Paignton Community and Sports College has been a designated specialist SPORTS COLLEGE
since September 2002.
Through achieving Specialist School Status the College has recieved extra funding and will
do so each year, which will help improve provision for sport both in the school and in the local
community. The plan is to become the hub of sport within the Bay. We will work with our local
primary schools, secondary schools and clubs within the community to ensure that the
opportunities for sport in the Bay match those opportunities offered anywhere else in the country. |
| The College offers a comprehensive programme of study and is fully implementing the National
Curriculum.
To emphasise the need for continuity from 5 to 18 years a pupil's progression through the years of
compulsory education is divided into five Key Stages. |
| School admission policies are the responsibility of the Local Education Authority (Oldway). Each
Torbay School serves a particular area but parents may apply for a place in any school.
The Governors of Paignton Community and Sports College have amended, with immediate effect,
their Admissions Policy, having considered the 1996 Education Act, Section 433, to state that the
College will only admit casual entries at the start of a new term, with the exception of Year 7 in the
Autumn Term. |
| On the completion of five years of Secondary Education at Paignton Community and Sports
College, pupils can qualify for transfer to our Sixth Form Centre. In January there is a Sixth Form
Open Evening for parents and pupils of the College and other local schools.
Full details of the options available will be made known to parents when their children are in Year
11 at this College. |
