We have an annual intake of reception children in September. The school admission limit is 40 pupils and as the school is often over-subscribed the County admission procedure is applied. The school has no control over the pupils that are admitted.
We arrange at least two visits for parents and children to see their classroom and meet their teacher in the summer term before they start. Additional opportunities are provided for reception parents to attend other summer term school events.
Most pre - school providers are visited and individual appointments are arranged for parents with the reception teacher prior to their children starting at Park Way. These are invaluable in developing a good working relationship with parents, providing security for your children and continuity in the learning process. Please inform us of any concerns you have about your child's development eg. hearing difficulties, convulsions, allergies or problems your child may be experiencing eg. nightmares, anti-social behaviour etc. Early identification enables us working in partnership with families, to deal with possible problems promptly and effectively together. Mrs Hall, our Family Liaison Officer, will be pleased to talk to you at any time about any concerns you may have. She can be contacted through the office.
Please be very patient during your child's first term: Some children need a long time to settle down. It is after all an overwhelming experience that changes their lives completely. We understand also how difficult this time can be for parents. Please do not worry; we handle these same problems successfully with each new intake. We will keep in touch with you to let you know how your child is developing. |
