Welcome to Park Way Primary School

Welcome to our school

Our Philosophy

We want a school...........

  • Which is calm and orderly - where teaching and learning can take place without disruption
  • Where everyone is treated equally and fairly and feels valued
  • Where children and adults have respect for each other's feelings and also their rights and backgrounds
  • Where everyone looks after school property and each other
  • Where everyone has a positive enthusiasm for school life and takes responsibility for their own learning

School Rules

Be honest - don't cover up the truth
Do respect others - don't be unkind
Do be polite - don't speak rudely
Do work hard - don't waste time
Do look after property - don't waste or damage it

ADMISSIONS

We have an annual intake of reception children in September. The school admission limit is 40 pupils and as the school is often over-subscribed the County admission procedure is applied. The school has no control over the pupils that are admitted.

We arrange at least two visits for parents and children to see their classroom and meet their teacher in the summer term before they start. Additional opportunities are provided for reception parents to attend other summer term school events.

Most pre - school providers are visited and individual appointments are arranged for parents with the reception teacher prior to their children starting at Park Way. These are invaluable in developing a good working relationship with parents, providing security for your children and continuity in the learning process. Please inform us of any concerns you have about your child's development eg. hearing difficulties, convulsions, allergies or problems your child may be experiencing eg. nightmares, anti-social behaviour etc. Early identification enables us working in partnership with families, to deal with possible problems promptly and effectively together.
Mrs Hall, our Family Liaison Officer, will be pleased to talk to you at any time about any concerns you may have. She can be contacted through the office.

Please be very patient during your child's first term: Some children need a long time to settle down. It is after all an overwhelming experience that changes their lives completely. We understand also how difficult this time can be for parents. Please do not worry; we handle these same problems successfully with each new intake. We will keep in touch with you to let you know how your child is developing.

UNIFORM

Children are required to wear school uniform as it helps them to take pride in their school. In order to avoid uneccessary expense styles are not specified but we ask you to keep to the school colours of royal blue and grey.

Girls

  • Grey skirts or pinafore dresses
  • White shirts
  • Royal blue or grey cardigans or jumpers
  • Blue and white checked dresses in the summer
  • Black or grey trousers when cold
  • Sensible footwear - no high heels or brightly coloured shoes please

Boys

  • Black or grey trousers (short or long)
  • Grey or white shirts
  • Royal blue or grey jumpers
  • Sensible footwear - preferably black or brown

CLASS ORGANISATION

In September there will be nine classes at Park Way, four infant classes and five junior classes. Considerable thought goes into the school organisation and governors remain committed to providing the best adult/pupil ratio for all children.Every class will also receive support from a teaching assistant (TA) dependent upon the needs of the class.
