At Passmores we are passionate about learning and teaching.  The school gives the highest priority to quality teaching that excites, motivates and challenges all young people.  Our mission is to develop highly educated, well rounded students who can make their way in the world as successful citizens.

This website aims to inform you about the curriculum, facilities and organisation of our school, and to give you an indication of the philosophy of education which underpins all that we do.

Passmores School is proud to be the recipient of the National Healthy Schools Status.  This is a nationally recognised award which acknowledges the hard work and commitment the school does with regards to the care and guidance of all its community.

The award assesses the school for forty-one standards in four key areas: Personal, Social and Health Education; Emotional Health and Well Being; Physical Activity and Healthy Eating. Throughout the course of the last school year Passmores has introduced a number of new initiatives to support these areas.

In June 2007 we organised our first Healthy Schools Week.  The students followed a different timetable for the week to allow them to undertake a specialised programme focusing upon the key areas.  Such events included a visit from the Army, drugs and smoking workshops, specialised lessons with a focus on healthy lifestyles in all subjects, a Farmhouse Breakfast and increased physical activity.  The week was a great success and contributed to our successful application for NHSS.

Having now received the award we need to ensure that the hard work continues to ensure that we maintain our commitment and we look forward to another successful Healthy Schools Week next year.

UNIFORM

The wearing of the school uniform is compulsory at Passmores and strictly enforced.  It is considered that school uniform promotes a positive attitude and sense of belonging to the school and a suitable image in the eyes of the wider community.

The uniform consists of:

  • Navy Blazer with a school badge
  • Plain dark grey trousers/skirt (of respectable length)
  • Plain white shirt/blouse with a collar and sleeves
  • Grey or navy socks or tights
  • Black shoes are to be of a sensible style, for school use - no trainers are permitted
  • School tie
  • Outdoor coats should be plain navy or black, sensible and suitable for school (no ‘hoodies’, leather, denim or ‘combat’ coats are allowed).

The school badge and tie can be purchased directly from the school.

It is preferable that no jewellery is worn for safety and security reasons.  However, a watch, one ring and a sleeper/stud if the ear is pierced would be the maximum allowed. No facial piercing is allowed at Passmores.

PE uniform consists of:

  • White polo shirt with logo and blue trim
  • Plain navy games shorts (short, not to the knee length)
  • Training shoes (with non-marking soles)
  • White PE socks
  • Navy football socks
  • Royal blue rugby shirt
  • Plain navy tracksuit bottoms (optional)

Clothing in the Technology and Expressive Arts faculties.

For the protection of clothing, aprons are provided for students in Technology lessons. During the Art/Design lessons an old shirt is more practical.
