Welcome to Pentrecelyn School's Web Site
Background
Pentrecelyn School is a Welsh primary school located in the countryside near the village of Pentrecelyn in the Vale of Clwyd. Children travel here from the surrounding areas (Llanelidan, Graigfechan, Pentrecelyn and Llandegla) for their education.
Welsh is the medium of teaching, therefore by coming to Pentrecelyn School, children from bilingual and English medium homes, as well as those from Welsh homes, have taken advantage of the opportunity to extend their horizons and to enjoy the wealth of two cultures.
The atmosphere here is typical of a small rural school where there is a close relationship between the staff, the children, their families and the local community. Every child is taught according to his/her particular ability and needs and is given the chance to take part in all the school's activities, whether those are within school hours or extra-curricular.
Pentrecelyn children get the opportunity to mix with children from neighbouring schools during events such as football and netball tournaments, swimming galas, area sports day, residential courses at Glan Llyn and Urdd competitions. They are therefore already friends with children from other schools before they move to Brynhyfryd Secondary School.
The school is split into three classes:
Infants Class (Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2). Miss Williams is the class teacher together with Mrs Davies in the afternoons when the Nursery children are in.
Years 3 and 4. Mrs Perrin teaches this age group.
Years 5 and 6. Mr Roberts, the Headteacher is responsible for the senior class.

Parents and Teachers Association Members of the PTA work hard to raise money to buy extra resources for the school. They meet every term to arrange fund raising and social events. All parents are welcome to take an active part within the association.
