"Whether your daughter joins the school in the Pre-Preparatory Department, the Sixth Form or at any other stage in between, you can be sure that the curriculum she follows will be both broad and balanced."
Curriculum
The young girls in the Pre-Prep have the best of both worlds: core subjects taught by class teachers and the expertise of specialist staff and use of specialist facilities for subjects such as Ballet, Drama, Physical Education and Home Economics. The same is true for girls of 7 to 11 in our Preparatory Department.
The curriculum broadens further at 12 when girls embark upon a second modern foreign language (French being the first.)
Girls progress through the National Curriculum Key Stages and tests are conducted at 7, 11 and 14.
Most girls at Pipers take 9 GCSEs. All study English, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (Dual Award) and French. In addition they choose three options from a selection of about fifteen subjects. Some opt to pursue Art or perhaps I.T. as a tenth GCSE course as part of our Extended Day programme.
Sixth-Formers too enjoy a wide range of options. Some study 2 or 3 Advanced Level subjects; others opt for GNVQ Advanced Business Studies; a few decide to combine GNVQ with an another "A" level. They also follow an enrichment programme which includes Wider Studies, Current Affairs, Physical Education, Careers Education and Guidance and Religious Studies

Clubs and Activities
Can you belly dance?! You’ll never know if you don’t give it a try! Arabic Dancing is only one of a wide variety of clubs and activities which Pipers has to offer both during the lunch hour or after school. Anything from embroidery to archaeology; scenery painting to five-a-side football; computers to consort choir. We have a tradition of excellence in public speaking and debating and a well-established Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and Young Enterprise Programme. Anyone interested in ecological and environmental issues might opt for Rain Forest Awareness Club. We have opportunities for Thespians of every age and scope for every kind of sporty or crafty activity. If a mental workout is more your sort of thing, why not come along to Latin or Italian Club?
So notch up another first and try something completely new. Who knows, you may have hidden talent! |
