WELCOME!!!

We are a small, busy and happy school set in the heart of the beautiful village of Powerstock. Our school values its ‘smallness’ and believes it to be a real strength. We can offer your child small class sizes, a maximum of 9 pupils per year group, excellent resources, a friendly, family atmosphere and a safe and supportive environment in which to learn.

AIMS AND VALUES

We aim, within our Christian School Community:

  • To create a happy, caring and positive environment where all children feel valued and respected.
  • To encourage every child to reach their full potential
  • To provide a broad and balanced curriculum that is imaginative, creative and stimulating.
  • To encourage all children to be confident, independent and happy individuals who have a positive outlook on life and learning
At Powerstock School we value:
  • Every child as an individual
  • Our links with our Church and Community
  • High quality teaching and learning
  • Parents, pupils, staff and community working in partnership

EDUCATION

Class structure

As a small school, we have three mixed year group classes. These are as follows:

Reception and Years 1 and 2 - Burton Class

Years 3 and 4 - Cogden Class

Years 5 and 6 - Seatown Class

Within the classroom, we take account of different abilities of our pupils by giving extra support where necessary, planning appropriate work for groups of children or having different expectations for the outcomes of tasks. Teaching Assistants provide valuable support and help, often following national support programmes to reinforce work done in the class.

The Curriculum

The National Curriculum is taught from Key Stage One and consists of core and foundation subjects:

Core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science

Foundation subjects: Information and Communication Technology, History, Geography, Music, Art and Design, Design and Technology and Physical Education
