Puddletown First School is a small rural school built in 1864. Due to the ever increasing pupil numbers over the years, we have had to add on extra classrooms. These are situated behind the main school building and are bright, modern units.

At Puddletown Church of England First School, we aim to:

Provide a welcoming, caring and Christian environment where everyone is valued;

Provide a broad and balanced curriculum enabling all children to do their best and to enjoy learning;

Encourage positive and respectful relationships between children, parents, local Churches, schools within our pyramid and the wider community

We expect high standards in all areas, achieved by fostering self esteem, self discipline and a growing independence.

We believe that by working together and forming a partnership between home and school, we can provide the best for the children of the school and all members of the school community.

We provide a broad a balanced curriculum which is organised and planned for in three stages:

Foundation Stage: relates to children aged 4 to 5

Key Stage 1: relates to children aged 5 to 7 years

Key Stage 2: relates to children aged 7 to 11 years

The curriculum for the Foundation Years is based on six key areas:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Language and Literacy

Mathematical Development

Knowledge and Understanding of our World

Physical Development

Creative Development

At Key Stage 1 and 2, twelve subject areas are delivered these are:

English, Mathematics, Science, Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Geography, Music, Physical Education (PE), Design and Technology (DT), Art, History,

Personal Health and Social Education, Religious Education (RE).
