Welcome to Pynes School Web Site
On behalf of the children, staff and governors may I welcome you and your family to Pynes.
I have pleasure in presenting you with our prospectus which includes information about our aims, organisation and activities.
We believe that the partnership between school and parents is an essential support for the child. A good home/school relationship encourages confidence and understanding in your child.
By working together we aim to help your child achieve the highest standards, enjoy the experience of school life to the full and move on well prepared for the future.
Pynes Infant School and Nursery is situated on a hill overlooking pleasant views of Bideford and the surrounding countryside. The school was opened in 1955 and consisted of 3 classrooms, the main hall and administrative offices. Additional classrooms have been added to provide ample, effective teaching space.
The Reception classes are housed in the main building together with dining and staff facilities. Y1 and Y2 are housed in surrounding classrooms which are all well appointed. In addition we have a Special Educational Needs area and a Library. An ICT Suite caters for the needs of our ICT curriculum.
The Nursery Unit was developed in 1975 and offers high quality education following the Foundation Stage Curriculum. The building was redeveloped in 2003 and provides an excellent environment for its pupils.
West Croft Junior School is situated on an adjacent site and offers a continued education for Pynes children upon transfer at seven years of age. Strong links are maintained between the schools and the staff work closely together. |
