We are a small rural Primary School (5-11 years), situated in the village of Rackenford, approximately 8 miles from Tiverton and within easy reach of one of the most beautiful areas of Devon countryside and coastline. The village, although small, has a close-knit but welcoming community and throughout the year there are many events arranged for children and their families.

As a Church School we have an ethos which is essentially Christian and this is reflected in our aims which are involved with the intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual development of the children in our care.

We intend that our approach to the curriculum will help all children to:

  • gain knowledge, concepts and skills appropriate to their age and ability
  • work within a stimulating and challenging environment which is both happy and caring
  • develop an awareness of their own and others' worth
  • be enthusiastic and original
  • develop the ability and confidence to communicate
  • develop their responsibility and indepence in all aspects of the learning environment
  • work towards effective learning by developing a positive attitude and encouraging and independent and imaginative use of resources achieve their true potential

In sport we aim to provide a variety of opportunities for both team and individual activities, including indoor and outdoor sports and games.

P.E. in school takes the form of gymnastics, dance, athletics, games and swimming. Our weekly swimming session in Tiverton incorporates work associated with skills improvement (ASA Awards) as a well as a distance swimming programme.

Children are also encouraged to take part in inter-school competitions, such as five-a-side football and tag-rugby.

A parent kindly runs a weekly hockey club.

An annual Sports Day is held in the summer term.
