Radipole Primary School
Radipole Lane, DT3 5HS, UK Weymouth

Radipole is a community primary school catering for boys and girls aged from 4 to 11 years, situated on a large rural site to the north of Weymouth. We are a member school of the Chesil Education Partnership, encompassing all schools and colleges across Weymouth and Portland. We work closely with our fellow partnership establishments to share expertise, to maximise opportunities for learning for all our pupils and students, and to seek excellence together.

The kind of school for which we strive is one:

  • Where every individual is valued and respected for the work they do and the contributions they make;
  • Where we work positively as a team;
  • Where we support, appreciate and encourage each other, and where problems can be shared;
  • Where we have high but realistic and achievable expectations of ourselves and of others;
  • Where every individual feels safe, secure and happy within an environment which is stimulating and enjoyable, and which promotes the development of the whole person – academically, creatively, socially and spiritually;
  • Where resources and facilities are adequate for the tasks we are expected to perform, and are fairly distributed;
  • Where everyone is encouraged and enabled to develop their full potential;
  • Where we all enjoy working!

The admission policy for Radipole is in accordance with the LEA’s admissions arrangements and criteria which are to be found in ‘Education in Dorset – Information Booklet No 1’. Parents wishing their child to attend Radipole should ensure that they contact either the school office or the admissions team at County Hall, Dorchester to ensure that we have all the necessary details. You must complete an admission form in the autumn term prior to the September your child is due to start. Do not assume that details are automatically passed on, for example from playgroups – they are not! If you are informed that a place is available for your child, it is essential that you accept the offer in writing by the deadline specified. Visits to the school are welcome and may be arranged by contacting the school office.

Curriculum Outlines

These give a term by term outline of the curriculum followed in each year group. Suggestions are also made about ways in which parents can support their children at home.

Spelling Sheets

Children in Key Stage 2 have a weekly test on their spellings. Ask the class teacher if you are unsure which "week" it is - and check on the curriculum outline to see which day of the week your child's class has their test. (Hopefully lists for other children will be included here soon).

A wide range of clubs and extra-curricular activities is offered – at lunchtime and after school. A list of these is sent home termly. If an after school club has to be cancelled, staff will ideally let children know in advance. If, unavoidably, a cancellation is made on the day, we will try to contact you by telephone. If we are unable to do this, we will supervise your child safely at school until the club would have finished, so that no child is sent home unexpectedly.
