Redhills Community Primary School is a member of the Exeter tertiary system of education which comprises infant, junior and secondary schools. Redhills has both infant and junior departments and is therefore a primary school, offering a continuity of education and philosophy for children from 4 to 11 years of age. Administratively we are part of the South West Division within the Devon Local Education Authority.

MISSION STATEMENT

Everyone here, every child and every adult, by learning, playing and achieving together, helps to create an environment which is challenging and stimulating, where we learn from our mistakes, where we can have fun, where we take responsibility for our learning, which helps us to understand the world in which we live

We want everyone, every child and every adult, to believe the following:

  • I am part of the whole school
  • I am valued and I value others
  • I can think for myself and I respect the thoughts of others
  • I can help others and I know someone will always help me
  • I take responsibility for all I say and do
  • I always do my best
WE WELCOME EVERYONE

CURRICULUM

At Redhills we provide an education of breadth, balance and progression in line with the national curriculum and designed for the benefit of each individual child. The national curriculum provides for children to have access to the following subjects:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • RE
  • ICT
  • History
  • Geography
  • Technology
  • Music
  • Art and Craft
  • Physical Education
  • French (Year 5/6)

EDUCATION BEYOND CLASSROOM

It has long been accepted that children learn best from first-hand experiences and, with this in mind, Redhills aims to offer all children opportunities to "see for themselves" in a variety of surroundings. During most terms, classes make half-day or whole-day visits on foot or using buses to experience different aspects of the local environment.

As part of their curriculum, different year groups take part in some activities outside school. These include trips to Dawlish, Exmouth and Stover. When a visit or outside activity is planned, parents will be asked to contribute to the cost of that activity. If contributions do not equal the cost the activity may well have to be cancelled.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

Teachers run a variety of clubs for children which normally include musical, artistic and sporting activities. Some groups are geared towards specific age groups. A timetable of activities is available at the Office for parents to see.
