Our school is situated on the eastern edge of the village of Ringmer. The school was built in 1971 and extended in 1992.For those who do not know the area, Ringmer village is a few miles east of the county town of Lewes. Just to the south of us is the world renowned Glyndebourne Opera House which employs a number of the parents. The school adjoins Ringmer Community College which the majority of our pupils go on to attend for their secondary education. Click here for the Ringmer village website
Aims of the school
- To stimulate curiosity, imagination and a desire to investigate and to learn.
- To help children towards a greater understanding of, and respect for, the world in which we live.
- To nurture the development of those skills which will enable children to gain personal autonomy and become full and active participants of the community.
- To encourage the growth of self discipline, responsibilty, respect for individual and group differences, and consideration and courtesy to others.
Organisation
Our school is a county primary school for girls and boys between the ages of 4+ and 11+, with approximately 255 children on roll. Normally the school has a separate class for each year although occasionally classes have been aggregated depending on the size of year. This is only done when the resulting class has a good balance of ages and sexes and care is taken to ensure that a broad range of abilities is fully accomodated.
