| Sports Colleges will raise standards of achievement in physical education and sport for all their students across the ability range leading to whole school improvement. They will be regional focal points for promoting excellence in physical education and community sport, extending links between families of schools, sports bodies and communities, sharing resources, developing and spreading good practice, helping to provide a structure through which young people can progress to careers in sport and physical education. Sports Colleges will increase participation in physical education and sport for all pre and post 16 year olds and develop the potential of talented performers.

| The Sixth Form has been under its current leadership since September 1994. Until September 2001 we were a mainly vocational Sixth Form, which offered GNVQs in three areas, Business, Health & Social Care and Leisure & Tourism. Each was offered at all levels, but the majority of the take up was at advanced level. We also offered A levels in three subjects; Art, English Literature and PE to add an academic balance.
We had an excellent Ofsted Report in April 1999, which named the Sixth Form as a 'strength of the school'.We believe that this excellent report was a result of the superb team of people who make our Sixth Form what it is, namely, the students and the staff. The Sixth Form's new curriculum that was launched in 2001 offers greater flexibility in terms of subject choices.
Many of our students apply to and gain places in good universities throughout the country. We are very proud of their achievements and always look forward to hearing of them getting good degrees. We currently have more than 20 undergraduates enjoying university life and study.
