Welcome!!!

Sandford School has a reputation going back over many years for being a caring and successful school. In addition it is well supported by parents and the wider community. We hope you will want to be an active and supportive partner in your child's learning. The Governors and Staff of Sandford School hope that this website will answer many of your questions but we will be only too happy to respond to any further queries you may have, and of course we welcome visits from prospective parents. New parents are also supplied with further detailed information on day-to-day matters.

ETHOS, AIMS AND VALUES

AT Sandford School we aim to ensure that every child achieves academically, socially and personally. We strive to create a stimulating and secure environment to help develop lively enquiring minds and a positive wish to learn.

We also hope that children here develop a strong sense of self-esteem and individuality by encouraging self-reliance and independence. Their time at this school is an opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge essential to lifelong learning. In addition, they will be helped to develop sound moral and spiritual values within a supportive and caring community.

CURRICULUM

AT Sandford School, we are committed to providing a rich and broad curriculum which covers all National Curriculum requirements.

We also seek to offer children opportunities for exploring and developing an awareness of themselves and their local community, as well as a growing understanding of their place in the wider world. Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) therefore lies at the heart of the curriculum at Sandford.

We also offer opportunities for children to develop interests and strengths both within the curriculum and outside the school day.

Each area of the curriculum develops skills, knowledge and understanding progressively. They are separate strands of learning but teachers sometimes take the opportunity to link and combine them in planned units of work or ‘topics’ to give broader or more meaningful contexts.
