Aims of the School
  1. The school seeks to create a caring, inclusive and positive ethos where individuals, whatever their ages, ability or background are valued, thus promoting self-esteem, self-reliance and a sense of personal integrity and communal responsibility.

  2. To encourage the children to become independent in their thinking and learning through practical experience and active participation, to develop a range of skills, think abstractly, gain information and form positive attitudes.

  3. To raise awareness of moral values and respect for the beliefs, culture and practices of others within a broadly Christian ethos.

  4. To promote high educational standards through the presentation of good quality work in a well prepared, organised and stimulating environment. Here, children develop respect and concern for both their immediate and wider environment.

  5. To encourage children to have high expectations of themselves and to recognise and celebrate the individual achievements of others.

  6. To recognise and provide for the needs and talents of all pupils in a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum, so as to enable them to reach their full potential. The curriculum is appropriate, flexible and relevant for the intellectual, physical, aesthetic, creative, social, spiritual, moral and cultural development of the child.

  7. To offer a safe, secure and well equipped environment where resources are accessible and respected.

School Curriculum

At Sandiway Primary School, we are very proud of the curriculum we offer the children. We work within the framework of the National Curriculum and the National Numeracy and Literacy Strategies.

At Sandiway we are particularly proud of our commitment to education within the arts. Music, art, dance and drama are significant subjects that we believe can be used to open the doors to all subject areas for the children. These are subjects where all children can have success and this success will give them the confidence to tackle all areas of school life. We often organise curriculum weeks based around the arts such as art weeks. In addition to this we value physical education and each class is timetabled for up to three PE sessions per week. We also take classes swimming for ½ a term each - from year 6 to year 2.
