Seer Green is a Church of England Voluntary Aided School in the Diocese of Oxford. It was founded in 1859 on the present site and additional land and buildings have been added over the years.
In 1999/2000 an extensive building programme has given our children the benefit of bright and spacious teaching environments, including a superbly stocked library and a fully networked ICT suite.
The School itself is set in four and a half acres of land, providing a pond, gardens and a generous area for playing fields, yet having ample space for hard surfaces and grass play. There is also an extensive area of woodland, which is used for environmental studies.
The School serves the children of the Parish of Seer Green and Jordans, from the age of four to transfer to secondary school at eleven. However, because of our popularity, the school takes in children from a much wider catchment area.
The School Community
We work closely with Holy Trinity, Seer Green Parish Church, and encourage links with other local Christian communities.
The children experience a daily act of worship, which reflects our Church of England foundation. However, we welcome children from other denominations and cultural backgrounds.
Clergy from local churches and other Christian organisations present monthly assemblies. Children also participate in and lead services at Holy Trinity Parish Church.
Classes prepare and present assemblies on a regular basis, to which parents, and children from Seer Green Nursery are invited.
Everyone Is Important
At Seer Green CE Combined School, we value each person as an individual and celebrate each person’s success. Certificates achieved, both in school and out of school, are presented each week in assembly.
Children work in spacious classrooms, developing at their own pace, and are encouraged to have high expectations.
Appropriate provision is made for children with special educational needs. They enjoy good support from a teacher with particular responsibility for their progress, from additional classroom support and from County and other agencies, where appropriate.
Seer Green CE School recognises the needs of more able children and work is planned to encourage personal development and high expectation and achievement.
The school follows a clearly defined Assertive Discipline Policy, which encourages children to take responsibility for his or her own learning and behaviour.
We believe that parents are a valuable resource. We invite them to take an active part in school activities and welcome their participation in a diverse range of activities.
We have an ‘open door’ policy in Seer Green CE Combined School. We value parents’ views and staff are always pleased to discuss any concerns. We believe that pupils, parents and school are a team that should work together to achieve the highest possible standards in all areas of school life.
