Head Teachers Welcome

Welcome to St. Chad's R.C.V.A. Primary School.  Our school is well established within the Parish of St. Paulinus.  As your child will soon be joining us and we will be sharing in his/her education and welfare, we have put together this brochure telling you about the school and how it is organised.

The teachers and teaching assistants take their responsibility towards your child seriously and their target is to help each pupil to achieve their full potential.  We regard each pupil as precious and unique and we endeavour to foster a high level of motivation towards work and behaviour.  We also regard our parents as partners in this work and we seek their full co-operation and interest in all that we are doing at school.

At all times we aim to centre the teaching in a Christian atmosphere.  We welcome the chance to help you give your child a deep faith in God and an understanding of our Christian beliefs and obligations.

Ours is a happy school with high hopes and ambitions for all our children and we welcome the opportunity to work with parents to ensure that everything is done in the best interests of the children at all times.

If there is anything you would like to discuss regarding your child’s education or wish to visit the school, please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see me. You will be most welcome.

Mission Statement

St. Chad 's R.C.V.A. Primary School has the responsibility of providing the highest quality of education for each child. St. Chad 's is a Roman Catholic school and as such the ethos of the school is based upon the belief that Christ is the centre of our lives, therefore all that takes place in our school is a reflection of God's loving care for each individual.  We seek to nurture in each child the knowledge and love of the Catholic Faith developing a Christian community where the Spirit of Christ pervades all aspects of school life, uniting it's staff, pupils and parents whilst being understanding towards other races, religions and ways of life. Every member of the school community has a responsibility to contribute to these values.

Within the Christian community of St. Chad ’s School we aim:

n        To deepen the Catholic faith of our children.

n        To foster their spiritual and moral development through the teachings of Christ, while respecting the beliefs of others in the multi-cultural society in which we live.

We seek to provide by example:

n        A safe, secure and welcoming environment that encourages children to develop a sense of responsibility and respect for themselves and others.

n        An environment where relationships within the school and the wider community can flourish.

We endeavour:

n        To promote the love of learning.

n        To achieve high standards across the curriculum thus enabling each child to fulfil their potential.

Our Aims

We believe that God is the centre of all reality and we place God, therefore, at the centre of all our learning and achievement.

What the school sets out to achieve is embodied in its aims:

J  To work with parents in educating our children in accordance with the teachings and principles of our Faith.

J  To encourage each child to learn with confidence and independence building on their curiosity and desire to learn developing their skills, concepts and understanding of all aspects of education.

J  To recognise that each child is an individual to be valued for their race, gender and belief.

J  To develop in each child a positive self image, a sense of individual worth and the value of his/her contribution to the school whilst promoting acceptable standards of behaviour in all circumstances and at all times.

J  To foster respect for others, and help children learn the importance of their community.

J  To encourage each child, in partnership with the parents and parish, to develop to his or her potential and self worth in a caring, friendly and secure environment.

J  To provide an environment that will encourage and support childrens’ physical, emotional, spiritual, moral and academic development.

J  To empower children to build on and utilise their knowledge and experience in a meaningful way.

J  To teach a well-planned curriculum, matched to individual needs that prepares children fully for their role in society.
