Dear Parent,
We hope that within this prospectus you will find much useful information about St. George’s, its ethos and its way of working.
Our aim is to provide for all our children the best possible standards of education in a caring atmosphere.
We have a very generous staffing level of seven full time teachers (including the Headteacher) for our six classes. We also have six classroom assistants.
We also provide tuition in Strings, Woodwind, Keyboard and Brass instruments on a private fee-paying basis.
All children are fully covered by an accident insurance policy that covers them from the time they leave their homes in the morning until they arrive back in the afternoon.
We are always delighted to show parents around the school and answer any questions you might have. Please write or telephone for an appointment.
St. George’s Catholic Primary School enjoys a fine reputation for its standards of education, for its expectations of good behaviour and for providing a broad and balanced curriculum within a Christian environment.
The school caters for children aged between four and eleven years of age. The parish pre-school, though managed autonomously, is soon to move on-site and caters for pre-school children from the age of 2 1/2.
The children come from the town of Warminster and its surrounding villages, including Chitterne, Codford, Corsley, Crockerton, the Deverills, Dilton Marsh, Heytesbury, Horningsham, and Sutton Veny. Westbury, Westbury Leigh, Bratton and Edington are also served by the school. Approximately 20% of the children from the military community of Warminster. A map showing the full extent of the school’s designated area is available for inspection at the school.
The school was first opened in February 1970 and was partially re-built in 1975 following a serious fire. A new block consisting of two classrooms was added in 1990 and in September 1998 we opened a new hall, new classroom and kitchen facility. A further new classroom was opened in July 2000. There is a large playing field on site.
