Dear Parents

On behalf of the staff and governors I have great pleasure in introducing you to Saint John's Church School. We hope that your child’s time here will be both happy and successful.

Saint John's School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided School.  We uphold Christian beliefs and have strong links with our local church, Christ Church.  These Christian beliefs can be seen in our policies and in the daily life of our school as we celebrate collective worship.

As a school we are committed to developing a partnership between home and school.  It is by working together that we can encourage your child to develop a lively attitude to learning, an enquiring mind and the ability to question and respond.

The creation of a happy learning environment remains one of our main goals and this is combined with effective teaching.  We will enable your child to perform to the best of his/her ability so that they leave school equipped for life and the challenges it brings.

This website will give you all the information you need about how our school runs and who to speak to if you need more information or have a concern. Should you   require any further information please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Head Teacher

MISSION STATEMENT

Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious  character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the church at parish and diocesan level.

The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.  It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers all its pupils.

During the Autumn term of 2001 all the staff at St John’s met together to create a statement which draws together all we hope to achieve with the children we teach.  This statement: ‘Together we will grow and learn’

shows our desire to work with parents and children to enable them to grow spiritually, morally, socially and academically.  This will be achieved by all those involved in the life of St John’s Church School working together to raise standards of behaviour and attainment.

UNIFORM

Wearing school uniform is an important part of coming to school. It is a visible sign to children that they are part of our school community. We like the children to feel that they belong here and believe that wearing school uniform helps this. Please make sure that your child comes to school in school uniform. Our school uniform is black or grey trousers/skirt, white, grey or blue shirt/ blouse and dark blue jumpers when the weather is cold. Dark blue sweatshirts and polo shirts with the school logo printed on them can be ordered from the school office. They are sensibly priced (please pay with your order) and very hard wearing. An order form is enclosed in this brochure which you can fill in and return to school. Of course, blue or grey cardigans or jumpers can be bought from many local shops. Please support our school by sending your child to school in the correct uniform.
