picture of the school

The Schools foundations were laid in 1939, when the vision of Fr. Arthur Bott, the Vicar of St. Johns Parish, was realised in the opening of this Church of England School. We continue to celebrate Founders Day and maintain close links with the people of the parish to encourage the children to be part of the family of the church in the community.

Mission Statement

We continue to raise standards, but also strive to give all children a well rounded curriculum, with subjects being integrated where possible. Children must have opportunities to achieve their potential in a wide range of creative activities and experiences inside and outside school.

Our Mascot

Learning is fun. Achieving is cool. We have special focused weeks to encourage creative opportunities.

We endeavour to teach in a wide variety of styles and to teach the children how to think.

All children are happy, challenged, and valued.

All staff have a good work-life balance and are happy, motivated and valued.

WHERE WE ARE AND HOW WE ARE

The school site is surrounded by excellent facilities of a games field and an environmental field, which has an abundance of trees, shrubs, flowers and meadowland. We also have an outdoor teaching area with a pond and plants to attract various creatures.

the nativityThe hard surface play areas have been designed to provide the choice of types of play. There are quiet areas for children to sit and talk and larger expanses where they can play games and be more lively if that is their choice.

The school building was refurbished in 1992. It is designed with two wings with the hall, dining room, library and administration area between the two.

We have 3 teams.

The Foundation Stage - Nursery and Reception

Keystage 1 Team (Year 1 and 2 children)

Keystage 2 Lower Team - Years 3 and 4 and Keystage 2 Upper Team - Years 5 and 6.

We also have an Assessment and Support Class for 8 children in KS1.

We also host a Kindergarten Group which accepts children from the age of two-and-a-half. This also allows our Nursery children to attend full-time.
