St Mary`s Catholic Primary School
Lyme Road, EX13 5BE, UK Axminster

St Mary’s is a Voluntary Aided Roman Catholic State Primary School with 133 children in January 2007.

We have a calm, homely atmosphere with every child knowing and respecting all the other children in the school. We apply Christian principles, celebrating strengths and giving encouragement about weaknesses.

We want our pupils to leave St Mary’s:

  • spiritually awakened and well-behaved
  • physically developed and healthy
  • academically well-grounded and inquisitive
  • emotionally balanced and confident

St Mary’s School is committed to providing a broad, balanced curriculum which teaches the National Curriculum to all our pupils.

The core subjects, English, Maths, Science, ICT and Religious Education are taught to each year group together with the other foundation subjects; History, Geography, Art, Music, Design & Technology, P.E. (including swimming), French and Education in Personal Relationships (which includes Sex Education).

The school places emphasis on assessing the children’s learning and implements a comprehensive assessment policy and system which track achievement and progress from year to year. Individual S.A.T.s results are shown on the children’s reports and the overall school results are published on this website and in the school prospectus

A variety of clubs and sporting activities are organised during lunchtime and after school. Great value is placed on these extra-curricular events as they broaden and advance children’s skills and interests.

We have an orchestra and wind band, chess club, recorder club as well as football and netball clubs, guitar club and choir.
