New Headteacher
Mr Simon Scott joined our school as the new Headteacher on 1st September 2006. Please click on the icon 'Headteacher' at the foot of this page to see a recent photograph.
Message from Mr Scott.
"Hello everybody! I am Simon Scott, the new headteacher at St Mary's C E School. I have been delighted by the welcome I have received from staff, parents, pupils and members of the local community and already feel as if I have been here for years!
I live just across the valley in Norland with my Dalmatian dog, Bertie. I am a churchwarden for St Luke's church and so I know exactly what it is like to live in a small village such as Mill Bank.
My previous school was a large primary school in Bolton. I worked there for nine years, having made the daily commute to and from Norland for the last two.
My specialism is Music and the Performing Arts and one of my aims is to drive St Mary's to become a leading school in these areas. "
At St Mary's each child is valued for the contribution made to the life of the school. We value the links with the local church community, parents and friends and hope that through mutual support, the experiences of the children at St Mary's will be enhanced.
The Mission Statement encompasses the more detailed aims below:
1) To develop a caring environment where all persons are loved and valued for the contribution they make to school life.
2) To have a place where all can feel happy and secure, able to trust one another and to give and receive help and encouragement.
3) To develop a respect for all people of every race and culture and to foster an understanding of the need to listen to and reflect upon the views of others.
4) To offer a broad and interesting curriculum which affords attention to areas such as health education, outdoor pursuits and aspects of cultural development.
5) To offer each child the opportunity to develop his/her full potential regardless of gender, race, disability or age.
6) To give opportunities to learn from each other, to delve into the mysteries and wonders of our world and not to be afraid to make mistakes on the path of learning.
7) To develop an appreciation of the wider environment and the world in order that informed conclusions can be drawn upon important country and world issues.
8) To aim for high standards in all aspects of work, according to ability, and never to be satisfied with less than our best. To show a commitment to providing high quality education whic is in line with the National Curriculum requirements.
9) To meet high standards of behaviour with self-discipline showing the ability to co-operate with each other, within and across the year groups.
10) To celebrate positive attitudes and achievements, informally through comment and action or formally in achievements assemblies/end of term concerts, prizes and trophies. |
