S. Peter's Collegiate School is an 11-18 Voluntary Aided Church of England Technology College situated on a parkland site in a predominantly residential area to the west of Wolverhampton town centre. Within the Diocese of Lichfield, the school educates children of all abilities from every electoral ward within the borough of Wolverhampton, together with children from four neighbouring authorities. The total population of the school is in excess of 1000 students.
The Curriculum includes specialised courses leading to GCSE and Advanced / Special levels of the General Certificate of Education, as well as a wide range of Vocational Courses. Our delivery of the curriculum in the key specialist areas of Science, Mathematics and Technology is regarded as being of high quality.
Effective guidance and good teaching, within an atmosphere of positive attitudes towards achievement contribute significantly to outstanding examination results which are commendable in both the local and national contexts.
The school offers 150 places per year group at Key Stages 3 and 4, together with a Post 16 provision of 250. Post 16 education is organised in partnership with St. Edmund's RC School, and Wolverhampton Girls' High School to offer comprehensive education for over 400 students, the largest single school-based provider in the area. S. Peter's has entered into partnership with another local school known as 'The King's School', continuing as two separate institutions under a single Voluntary Aided Foundation - The Lichfield Foundation.
The Governors, Principal, Staff and parents view the distinctiveness of S. Peter's as a Church Technology College to be of paramount importance. Relationships with the Local Authority and Diocese are firmly founded in that distinctiveness. The Governing Body contains several nominees who work within industry, and together with two Technology College Sponsor Governors, enable the Governors to maintain an overview of the role of a Church School within a modern, industrial and technological society.
The school has received many accolades, the most recent being its designation as a 'Leading Edge' School, working in partnership with other schools in Wolverhampton and the West Midlands region. |
