The School
Tattenhall Park Primary School was built in 1970 and is situated on Chester Road, Tattenhall, a village about 7 miles from the centre of Chester. About 160 children between the ages of four and eleven attend this Community Primary School.
Tattenhall Park Primary School is literally the school in the park. It is in a delightful setting, right in the centre of Tattenhall village community. From whichever window you choose, the view is of shrubberies, trees and grassed playing areas – laid to football pitches and running tracks in season. In the middle of the extensive playing fields, there stand two very mature oak trees which were planted when the grounds were parkland many years ago.
The building is a unique design of semi-open plan teaching areas with specific music, art, reading, library and quiet study corners. We have our own indoor, heated swimming pool, thanks to the efforts of our parents and community. The school is very much part of the community. Within the school we have a Village Room that is used as by the County Library, Parish Council, Parent School Association, Rainbows, Guides, Brownies and a Mother and Toddler Group. The hall is also used during the evenings by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and a Community Youth Club. Other schools and Community Groups use the swimming pool and it is hired by swimming schools for after school sessions. A playgroup, with which we have strong links, resides within the school and accepts children between the ages of 2½ and 5.
As a school, we pride ourselves in having a hardworking and committed team of professionals who strive to achieve the highest standards possible. This ensures that all children are able to experience high levels of self- esteem gained through achieving their personal potential.
Our Philosophy is of a child- centred approach to education. This approach leads us to provide well organised and rigourous learning opportunities that start with what they already know, re-produce real-life experiences, and encourage children to think imaginatively and make choices intelligently. The atmosphere within our school is purposeful, caring and happy.
This is a school in which there is pride and order. These features are achieved through discipline, high expectations, courtesy and imagination.
School Governors
At present there are 14 Governors. The governors meet formally, as a full body at least once each term, and then meet in sub-committees to address issues identified in the school’s strategic development plan. The governor sub committees are as follows:
- Teaching and Learning and curriculum
- Premises
- Finance
- Staffing
- Promotions
The Parent School Association is a fund raising group open to all parents which meets regularly to organise events to raise money for the children within the school.
The governors produce an annual report about the work of the school, which is sent to all parents and is followed by the 'Governors' Annual Meeting', when the governors account to parents for the decisions they have reached during the year. Our Open Day is held in January when anyone is welcome to come and see a normal working day within at school.
A STATEMENT OF BELIEF

Within this community we aim to provide an environment that will develop the full potential of everyone.
We listen to children and encourage them to listen to others.
We believe that education should be a partnership between the home and school. This attitude will strengthen the opportunities afforded to all.
We are committed to nurturing a love of learning and developing an enquiring mind.
The school promotes a philosophy of continuous improvement within every aspect of the school's work and life.
Here the highest expectations exist.
