We are a thriving and well situated school of approximately 275 pupils aged between 4 and 11 years. Our school is large enough to provide the resources required for a full and varied education for young children while retaining a friendly and secure atmosphere for pupils, parents and staff.

We have a very supportive governing body and an active Home School Association (HSA). The staff, the governors, the HSA and above all, the children, benefit from working together as a team and welcome your interest and involvement in the life of the school.

At our school we provide a secure and stimulating environment which fosters high self esteem and allows positive relationships to flourish. Our environment promotes balance of knowledge and understanding which enables pupils to develop their potential.

We aim to:

  • Provide a relevant, interesting, varied and challenging curriculum for all pupils.
  • Promote high standards in literacy and mathematical ability
  • Enable each pupil to develop respect for themselves and to raise their personal aspirations.
  • Encourage a healthy physical and emotional lifestyle.
  • Develop an awareness of their place within the local and worldwide community.
  • Provide a safe environment where children learn to take responsibility for their own actions and make safe and informed choices.
  • Develop respect for other people’s abilities, values, beliefs and property.
  • Create a local learning community in which everyone’s abilities and contributions are valued.
  • Provide a rich learning environment which engages pupils’ curiosity and creativity.
  • Promote a respect and understanding of the natural world and how our future depends on sustainable development.

We at Castle Primary School believe that school should be a place to which children enjoy coming because they find it offers them many varied opportunities for success and progress in learning and living together, in an encouraging and caring atmosphere where each child’s contribution is valued.

The Governors of Castle Primary School are committed to a curriculum which is broad and balanced and which promotes the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and physical development of the pupils at the school.

We aim to prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life within society.

Pupils in Foundation Class follow their own curriculum called the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Pupils in years 1 to 6 follow the National Curriculum which all schools must, by law, teach.

The school offers a wide range of extra curricular clubs and activities for pupils held after school and during lunch times. A full list of these is displayed on the notice board outside the office and ranges from table tennis, football club, craft club, choir to gardening.
