Edward Francis Infant School
Welcome
We would like to welcome you to our school web-site. We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures and information we have published.
All our children have a good time at school! If you are an existing parent we hope our website gives you an idea of what it is like for your child in school, and provides you with any news and information you need.
If you are a prospective parent we hope you find our site interesting and informative. Maybe your child will join us one day.
We’d love to meet you! |
| In close partnership with parents, we aim to provide a safe, caring environment, where each child’s achievements will be valued and rewarded so that they will happily fulfil our high expectations of them in learning and behaviour.
To achieve this, Edward Francis Schools aim to provide:-
a stimulating environment which will encourage academic, physical, social, moral and spiritual development;
a broad, balanced curriculum which is well planned, monitored and evaluated to achieve high standards;
equal access to the curriculum for every child and appropriate professional development for all our staff;
an atmosphere in our schools that encourages children, parents and members of the community to feel valued and involved;
an understanding of the needs of others through strong community links;
realistic and effective use of resources through sound management.
It is hoped that parents will accept their responsibility by:-
Showing by their example that they support the school in setting high standards in all it tries to do.
Ensuring that their child comes to school regularly, on time, alert and ready to work.
Taking an active and supportive interest in their child’s work and progress.
Supporting the authority and discipline of the school and helping their child to achieve self discipline and self control. |

Admissions Procedure
Children are legally entitled to a place in school at the beginning of the term after their fifth birthday.
Essex L.E.A. has a general policy, however, whereby children can be admitted at the start of the term during which they become five, if their parents so wish, and at this age they are known as ‘rising fives’.
The Governing Body of Edward Francis Infant School has been able to further improve on this provision and has received permission to admit children younger than `rising fives`. Therefore, Spring and Summer born children, (birthdays between 1st January and 31st August) can be admitted PART-TIME in the September of the school year in which they become five years old.
The Admissions Policy is as follows:
Places will be allocated up to the published admission number of 60 for each year group.
Criteria for admission
There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admissions area. In the event of over-subscription, places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:
· children living in the priority admissions area with a brother or sister attending the school at the time of application with a reasonable expectation that the brother or sister will still be attending at the time of admission;
· children living in the priority admissions area with a brother or sister attending the partner junior school at the time of application with a reasonable expectation that the brother or sister will still be attending the partner junior school at the time of admission;
· other children living in the priority admissions area;
· children living outside the priority admissions area with a brother or sister attending the school at the time of application with a reasonable expectation that the brother or sister will still be attending the school at the time of admission;
· children living outside the priority admissions area with a brother or sister attending the partner junior school at the time of application with a reasonable expectation that the brother or sister will still be attending the partner junior school at the time of admission;
· all other children living outside the priority admission area.
In the event of over-subscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority. |
