The information you will find here only gives a small insight into a very successful and flourishing school.

A first generation Science College that prides itself on achieving the very best for all its students; we also pay close attention to the Arts with our Artsmark Gold Award and Sport through a very substantial programme of competitive activity.

As a 13-18 school we are proud of our excellent examination record at all levels and our January 2002 OFSTED report that designated the school as 'outstanding'. This is an accolade that is achieved by very few schools. This level of success has been rewarded by two School Achievement Awards for exceptional results.

The OFSTED judgement is however only part of the story. As a school that gained Investors in People status nearly ten years ago and with three Chartermarks to our name we are committed to providing the very best service. We are always striving to ensure all students gain an experience that prepares them to be successful in later life. We are also proud to work with our partners in DASP (The Dorchester Area Schools Partnership) to achieve this goal.

I hope you enjoy visiting our site and sharing in the successes and aspirations of The Thomas Hardye School.

Dr I E Melvin

Our Aims

To ensure that all students receive the best education we can provide, regardless of social, financial, religious or racial background and irrespective of ability

To ensure that students achieve the qualifications, skills and attitudes needed in a changing world.

To provide a caring, successful school community where all are valued and respected for their own sake and where every individual's contribution is encouraged and given recognition.

To provide a stimulating environment which shows students that learning is exciting and a valuable life-long activity.

To encourage and help all students to develop talents, skills and interests, and to have an understanding of moral and spiritual values.

To involve all members of the community, especially parents, in the life of the school and in the education of their children.

To establish strong links with other stages of education, especially our partner Middle Schools.

Our Mission Statement

Everyone at The Thomas Hardye School
has a right to equal respect and consideration
and to an education which offers them every
opportunity to fulfil their potential. If we all,
Staff, Students, Parents and Governors
work together, we can achieve that aim.
