WELCOME!!!

There are around 75 children on roll in three classes. The teaching staff is augmented by teachers on short-term contracts when pupil numbers increase. There is a teaching assistant in each class. Parents and local people give practical support in many ways in school including reading support, running the library, sewing, cooking, gardening, games and visits.

The School has strong links with the Village Playgroup, which most children attend before starting school.

RESOURCES

The main school building contains two teaching areas, an all-purpose hall, a library, the dining room and kitchen. A separate building, the former head master’s house, contains a third teaching area, the staff room, the head teacher’s office and the administrative office.

We are lucky to have larger gardens than most schools as well as our own playing fields. The grounds also include a special environmental area for the children to study plants and minibeasts. We have the usual range of P.E. equipment, outdoor games and electronic equipment, including a generous number of computers. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard.

We visit local and more distant places of interest and attach considerable importance to older children taking part in residential visits at outdoor centres.

CURRICULUM

The children are generally taught in three classes, each catering for about a third of the age range. Additional provision is made for children with special educational needs.

Literacy and Numeracy are generally taught during the morning and other subjects are taught discreetly or through topics.

We take part in sports competitions - football, netball and athletics - and music and drama activities with other schools in the Crediton area.

As a school with a religious character and with a Trust Deed dating from our foundation we are conscious of our close links with the

Church and the ethos connected with the spiritual development of the children and the Anglican tradition of school worship.

We are very pleased that no pupils are withdrawn from worship. However, parents do have the right to request if they wish that their children are withdrawn from R.E. or Collective Worship. We would be happy for you to come and discuss this with us if necessary.
