Welcome to Three Legged Cross First School. We would like to take you on a tour of the school. If you would like to take a real tour of our school, visitors are always welcome. Telephone the school on 01202 822460.
We are very fortunate to have spacious and well-maintained accommodation and grounds. All classes have easy access to toilet and cloakroom facilities. The classes are fully carpeted and very well resourced.
Our facilities include:
five fully equipped traditional-type classrooms
a well equipped practical area
a well resourced ICT Suite & Library
a spacious hall and medical room
In our school grounds there are two playgrounds with an adventure playground, a quiet courtyard area, a large field for sports and games and a nature trail with a pond.

Coming into school Children may come into school from 8:45 onwards. Before that time teachers are preparing for the day. Children go directly to their classrooms where their teachers will be ready to welcome them.
Break Children may bring a piece of fruit to eat at break time. Key Stage 1 get free fruit through the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. Parents can purchase milk for their children. This is organised through the Cool Milk Scheme and forms are available at the office. Milk is free for children under five years but parents still need to fill in a form
Lunch Your child will need a packed lunch in a suitable labelled container. Please do not send fizzy drinks or glass bottles. We try to make our lunch times pleasant and enjoyable. Our lunchtime supervisors and ‘duty’ teachers always encourage quiet conversation and good table manners.
Free Meals If you receive income support your child may be entitled to free packed lunches. Application forms are available at the school office.
Going Home Procedure Teachers bring the children to the front gate at 3:00. They will only let a child leave if they see a recognised collector. Please let us know if a person new to us is collecting your child. If you are not at the gate to meet your child he/she will be brought back into school to wait in the entrance hall. No child will be left waiting unaccompanied at the gate.
We assume that an adult will meet all first school children. However, on a rare occasion when you want your child to walk home unaccompanied we must have a letter to that effect or he/she will not be allowed to leave the premises.
Religious Education and Assemblies Our school has adopted the Dorset Agreed Syllabus for RE and we use this as the basis for our planning so that our provision links with the children’s other curriculum experiences. We promote the spiritual, moral and cultural growth of our pupils and aim to foster a sense of their own identity and worth as an individual through exploring their beliefs in relation to those of others.
An act of collective worship takes place daily and takes various forms. Visitors regularly lead our assemblies and during the week the children are able to celebrate their own success in a ‘Well Done Assembly.’ The Playgroup joins us once a week and parents are often invited to participate
Parents may withdraw their child from Religious Education and assemblies although both are on an enquiry into the religious dimensions of life rather than being reflective on any particular faith position. |
